Coronavirus update for PSHE home learning.
The PSHE Association have released some home school learning activities for children and their parents/carers to access. As a parent/carer you are your child’s first educator and play a vital role in their personal and social development. Therefore, PSHE education should always be a partnership between schools and parents/carers. This guide will support you to contribute to your child’s PSHE education outside of school or through home learning. This guidance is relevant at any time, but particularly so given current school closures due to the coronavirus epidemic.
PSHE teaching at Roe Lee Park.
At Roe Lee Park we follow the 3D PSHE programme from Dimensions. This is a fully comprehensive PSHE Education programme which includes creative lesson plans that can be easily integrated into the everyday teaching, based on the needs of our pupils and our school. It uses what the PSHE Association 2013 have identified as the core areas, covering key concepts and skills that underpin PSHE Education to help us as a school fulfil our statutory responsibility to support pupils' spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development and prepare our pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life.
3D PSHE will help pupils 'develop and demonstrate skills and attitudes that will allow them to participate fully in and contribute to life in modern Britain.'
Our pupils will also be taught through three underlying core themes, within which there will be broad overlap and flexibility:-
1. Health and Wellbeing
2. Relationships
3. Living in the Wider World
Within these three core themes are the following 12 units that individual lessons cover for our Key Stage One pupils. These are:-
* Healthy Lifestyles
* Hygiene
* Changing and Growing
* Emotions
* Keeping Safe
* Communication
* Bullying
* Fairness
* Family and Friends
* Rules and Responsibilities
* Communities
* Money and Finance
In Key Stage Two there are 21 units that cover their individual lessons. They include the 12 from Key Stage One plus:-
* Nutrition and Food
* Aspirations
* First Aid
* Collaboration
* Similarities and Differences
* Healthy Relationships
* Diversity
* Discrimination
* Enterprise
