Subject Leader Profile
As Computing Subject Leader at Roe Lee, I strongly believe that through experiencing new technologies, learning new ways to connect and discover and solving problems in different ways, we can enhance children’s learning in all areas. I am passionate about preparing and encouraging children to go on and do greater things with their lives and through their formative primary education that we can give children the best start on that path. Teaching and learning in computing should instil children with an inquisitive and resilient mindset, to encourage questioning, problem solving and enjoyment. It is imperative that all children have the necessary knowledge and maturity to use online resources safely and effectively. As we continue to develop and enhance the teaching of computing across the school, I look forward to working with parents and the wider community to further enhance our children’s experiences.
Computing at Roe Lee Park
Here at Roe Lee we want to enable all of our children to face the problems and opportunities of a changing and challenging world with confidence, knowledge and understanding. It is our aim to provide every child with new and enriching experiences that allow them to learn, enjoy and master a range of systems, technologies and devices. With technology playing an increasingly significant role across society, we believe that it is our duty to better prepare and enable our children to thrive in an ever-evolving digital environment.
At Roe Lee we use Switched on Computing supported by the Google Classroom suite and various additional programs and devices. Through the use of a wide range of relevant technologies, the children should develop creativity, resilience and problem solving skills as they progress through school.
Computing is a subject that not only stands alone but is an integral part of the wider school curriculum. At the heart of this is online safety, ensuring that children are safe and learn how to act responsibly when online. Roe Lee is all about providing lasting experiences, knowledge and skills so that our children become competent, conscientious and ambitious learners. We believe Computing embodies many essential life skills that we hope will enable and encourage our children to seek out new challenges and opportunities.
